Who: Doug Caldwell, landscape horticulture specialist with the Collier County University of Florida Extension Office, will present a brief pictorial talk on palm lethal yellowing disease, which has been spotted in a number of Collier County neighborhoods, and how to recognize symptoms, followed by a question-and-answer session on the county palm inoculation program. Joe Boscaglia, Naples parks and parkways coordinator, will explain the city’s suppression program; Ian Orlikoff of Signature Tree will add information on inoculation process and removal of infected palms.

He is a certified arborist and Florida Certified Horticulture Professional (FCHP), whose expertise includes more than 10 years of hands-on tree care experience. The owner of Signature Tree, a fully licensed tree, lawn and landscape maintenance company, Orlikoff and his staff are committed to continuing education, and passing the knowledge on to homeowners as well, in their efforts to provide the very best in tree and landscape care. Orlikoff will discuss the basic principles of care and appropriate pruning practices.

These three Saturday morning seminars examine the next generation of tree issues in Southwest Florida.
Speakers will include arborists, association managers, community association board members, urban forestry enthusiasts and landscapers.
This Saturday’s class will feature Ian Orlikoff of Signature Tree Care speaking on urban infrastructure, root interference and root barriers.
When: 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday, as well as Feb. 19 and Feb. 26
Where: 3406 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers
Admissions: $20 per person for all three workshops, or $10.00 per workshop, reservations requested
